Pike 'o' Blisco from Crinkle Crags

Posted by John Leech (Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom) on 13 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Langdale is a very popular walking area with an attractive horseshoe of fells and plenty of options. This was taken towards the end of my round, the pace having slowed somewhat - though there's a swooping fast descent from here before the final push up Blisco, middle right. You can see Lake Windermere in the distance.

I'm sure most visitors to my pages will be familiar with Ian Bramham's photography Ian Bramham. I've followed his emerging talent since he first bought a DSLR - not that his talent took long to emerge. I'm sure any viewers who have not seen his work will appreciate this link.

Lovely, I camped on the Great Langdale campsite a couple of years ago and loved the hikes over the fells. You captured it really well.

@Hoshisato: I walked past the campsite yesterday, lots of memories of staying there - an excellent location.

Have you finally figured out a way to carry a camera with you on your fell runs John?

The patch of snow in the foreground makes this shot and adds a dose of drama to the scene which is great.

@Ian Bramham: Not really. I use the 300 plus smaller 18-70 kit zoom for a balance between weight and ruggedness, then hold it in my left hand for all be the evil surfaces. I found that I can use my holster camera bag as a support sling for my carrying arm, but there are a lot of compromises in the activity as a whole! I'm going to start taking my 70 more frequently to see how I get on with that.
