Meteora, GreecePosted by John Leech (Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom) on 21 April 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I've wanted to go to Meteora from the first time I saw photographs of it - quite possibly at a travel agents in the 80s. At this time we had a holiday on Kefalonia. Having no idea where Meteora was I wondered if we'd be able to visit on that trip... So now, thirty years later, I met up with Ian Brambam from Aminus3 and a group of other photographers from around the world that have come to know each other through forums (now mainly flickr based). Meteora is everything I'd hoped for, and we were lucky enough to see it in a range of light and weather. This is one of the final shots I took. The group had disbanded on the final morning, heading off in different directions. My wife and I were about 10 miles down the road when we decided to turn and take one last look at the collection of pinnacles and monasteries in the rain. UK based wedding and landscape photographer. The panoramic view of Morecambe Bay from my house is a regular feature of my landscape photography. @Dana: Thanks Dana. There is a fair amount of processing in it, but the starting point was important. None of my other daytime images would come out anything like this. @Séverine Delaygue: Thanks Séverine @DarkElf: Thanks DarkElf - it would be good to return to see it in other seasons, though there are so many places to see in the world! |
