Skogarfoss, IcelandPosted by John Leech (Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom) on 20 October 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Iceland excels at waterfalls. The good ones are so good that you end up driving past ones which you'd stop and study for days if they were back here in England. Skogarfoss is my favourite of the ones we saw, and its clear to see why it features on so many advertisements for the country, its proportions are perfect. Two photographers were already in position when the three of us arrived and several other appeared before we moved on. UK based wedding and landscape photographer. The panoramic view of Morecambe Bay from my house is a regular feature of my landscape photography. @Hans ter Horst: Thanks Hans. Yes, in some ways LE is a bit of a cheap ticket, but some subjects just work so well with it. I was quite a distance from the fall, but even so, after 6 minutes my filter was starting to cover over with fine spray! @Lydia.Dd: Thanks Lydia @Aubélia: Thanks Aubélia @Denise: Thanks Denise @Adrian: Thanks Adrian. I'll try harder with the next one to get an extra * @Mike: Thanks Mike @Mike: Thanks Mike - I think the location had a lot more to offer, but a different time of day and more scope for exploration would be needed. If I go there again I'll pop up to that higher viewpoint even if I leave my camera kit at base camp 1. @rick: I've always fancied a go with one of those, and the Iceland trip got me wondering again. I took about 1600 photos in 5 days and have processed about 30. I'd like to know how my thought processes would transfer to shooting far fewer shots (a 36exp film used to last me a whole holiday and still have room for Christmas). Would each exposure to too precious so I'd not take 'risks'? @Ian Bramham: Thanks Ian. I wondered whether to take wellies on the trip, but really glad I did!
